The China network exists out of the embassy in Beijing, three Consulates-General (Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong), six Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO: Jinan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Naming, Wuhan, and Dalian), two Netherlands Agribusiness Support Offices (NABSO: Kunming and Harbin) and one Netherlands Education Support Office (NESO: Beijing, until July 1st 2010). DAO/OA of the Foreign Affairs department in The Hague, together with other participants of the Interdepartmental China deliberation (ICB), is the central contact point for the post network.
Within the China network, close cooperation is conducted. The network operates one website and administers a coordinated operational management budget. However, the ‘one country, two systems’ model sometimes causes CG Hong Kong to follow a different policy.
The embassy in Beijing focuses on the reporting of political
subjects, economic developments (among which trade- and investment
promotions), sustainability, society, consular, and development
cooperation. With regard to development cooperation, Mongolia is a
partner country. The Consulates-General focus on all the same
domains as Beijing, with the exception of development cooperation.
The difference with regard to Beijing is that the accent of the
Consulates-General is on the economic and consular field,
migration, PCZ, and public diplomacy. The N(A)BSO’s mainly focus on
trade promotion, but are important key figures in the supply of
information to the post network. NESO is focused on education and
exchanges, and alumni.
